Join the Ryther family by volunteering your time, energy and compassion. Volunteers are a critical part of our organization and there are many ways to get involved.
Establish a healthy and positive relationship with a child learning to cope with a history of abuse and trauma. Best Buddies act as role models and friends to children, and commit to scheduled visits once a week with buddies for a minimum of six months.
At this time Ryther is not currently recruiting for Best Buddies. Most of the children who can benefit from having a Best Buddy have been matched up with one. When we begin recruiting again this page will be updated to reflect that.
Note: All volunteers working with children must be at least 21 years old and complete a criminal history background check.
Certified handlers and their therapy dogs spend time with children weekly. Therapy may consist of playing ball, talking or reading
to the dog or just simply petting and brushing the dog.
Note: All volunteers working with children must be at least 21 years old and complete a criminal history background check.
Tasks may include assisting our development staff with volunteer program duties, special events, data entry, in-kind gifts solicitation, general organizing or other assignments. Some assignments may be completed off site.
To volunteer, download the Volunteer Application (PDF) or Word Application and return to clayt@ryther.org or mail to Ryther, 2400 NE 95th St., Seattle, WA 98115.

Build team spirit while strengthening our community when you work together at Ryther's 10‐acre campus or one of our offsite locations. You’ll learn about our programs and issues facing children impacted by abuse, neglect, mental illness and substance abuse while enhancing the lives of the children and Staff who live and work here. We can accommodate both large and small volunteer groups in spring and summer. Email robinb@ryther.org or call 206.517.0215.
