Sub-Acute Inpatient Program

Teen Substance Use Our Sub-Acute Residential Treatment Program provides a hospital step-down or diversion for children ages 6-14 requiring a short-term, highly structured and safe living arrangement, while receiving intensive mental health and behavioral health services in a rich therapeutic milieu. While most of the children we treat in this program are referred to us by Children’s Administration, an increasing number of children needing this level of care are referred by parents, pediatricians, and therapists. A number of insurance providers cover the service. Ryther can check with insurance providers for coverage.

Our program includes assessment, psychiatry, psychology, evidence-based and experiential therapies, group therapy, family therapy, parent coaching, and an on-campus K-8 Seattle Public School self-contained special education program. With individualized treatment plans and a team approach featuring a low staff-to-child ratio of 1:2 during day time hours. Ryther helps children overcome the effects of trauma, violence and mental illness.

Ryther’s three sub-acute residential treatment cottages, located on our beautiful ten-acre campus, each serve twelve children at a time. We strive for a home-like atmosphere with private rooms, family-style dining, predictable routines and caring and knowledgeable staff.
