Ryther Child Center operates four cottages in north Seattle, with beds
for 46 children ages 6-12. Children may live with us from 30 days up to
two years while receiving treatment. Our cottages offer as home-like a
setting as possible. Children eat family-style meals prepared by staff,
and have their own bedrooms. A staff to client ratio of 1:2.5 creates a
safe and stable environment, and allows us to offer caring attention
while children receive intensive treatment.
- Acute Stabilization Program (ASP): This cottage
has 10 beds for high-needs children in crisis, and admits children
24 hours a day, and 365 days a year. Children stay for up to 90 days
while staff stabilize their behavior and assess the child's health
and medical treatment, mental health and emotional and behavioral
functioning
- The Nest Cottage: This program provides interim
care of up to 18 months for 12 children in crisis whose current
placement has become unviable. Caring counselors and experienced
therapists provide assessment, stabilization and treatment to
address emotional and behavioral issues.
- Cottages A and D: Residential Treatment of up
to two years is provided for 24 children who have been physically
and/or sexually abused and show sexualized behavior. The children
receive specialized treatment from case managers and therapists
individually and in groups. They learn to identify feelings,
understand personal boundaries and develop respectful, trusting
relationships.
