Director of Philanthropy

ABOUT RYTHER:
Helping children, youth, young adults, and their families find their path to healing and hope is at the core of our work. We can only achieve this by striving for excellence and providing an array of services that are needed and wanted by the community we serve. We are continuing to expand our service array and locations where we provide services, with therapists in more schools and social service agencies. As we expand our services to serve more than 800 children, youth, and young adults each month – regardless of payer, gender identity, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity, or place of origin – we do so with the intention that we would want our own families to use these services should they need them. ABOUT THE ROLE:
Ryther is looking for a strategic, creative, collaborative individual to lead our development department as Director of Philanthropy. We are seeking a strong leader who will advance our agency’s philanthropy goals by developing and implementing an agency fund development plan and work towards achieving our goal of increased donor acquisition and retention with an emphasis on major gift donors. 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Responsible for the development, implementation, and actualization of a philanthropy program within the agency.

    • ​Identify, research, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors.

    • Engage and facilitate the Board of Directors’ participation in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, acknowledging, and stewarding larger donors.

    • Create and execute individualized plans and goals for each identified donor toward the goal of engagement and retention.

  2. ​​Work with the Executive Director, Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers to build a culture of philanthropy at Ryther

  3. Lead the Board of Trustees’ engagement in agency philanthropy efforts by:

    • Convening and leading the Board Philanthropy Committee

    • Providing development department update at monthly Board of Trustee meetings

    •  Cultivate and support Board of Trustee involvement in all agency fundraising efforts and donor appreciation efforts

  4. Manage the relationship with the Ryther Child Center League by providing regular and timely communication with each League Unit as well as assistance, support, and guidance for League events.

  5. Provide supervision and training opportunities to development department staff.

  6. Demonstrate a high degree of skill in communication and positive interaction with all Ryther employees, prospective employees, external agencies/companies, and the community at large.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, CFRE a plus.

  • Five years of experience in development at a not-for-profit.

  • Prior experience in supervision and management.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to relate well with diverse donors, staff, and volunteers

  • Able and willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Ability to exercise discretion and professionalism and maintain donor and employee confidentiality.

  • Computer Proficiency (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint).

  • Commitment to the Vision, Values, and Mission of the agency
