COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

ABOUT RYTHER:

Helping children, youth, young adults, and their families find their path to healing and hope is at the core of our work. Ryther is focused on providing equitable, evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health care, with the intention that we would want our own families to use these services should they need them.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Ryther is in the process of introducing three new residential treatment programs to its list of services. As we strive to provide equitable, trauma-informed, evidence-based care, we want to ensure program accountability and evaluation. We are looking for new members for our Community Advisory Board (CAB) that will provide feedback on the policies and procedures, and help inform the evaluation process of the three residential treatment programs. We are seeking a representative group of professionals, community members, and those with relevant lived experiences. Members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community with lived experiences are encouraged to apply. The CAB has no governing function within Ryther.  Current Ryther employees are ineligible. Members will receive a monthly honorarium of $50 per month via gift card.

THE THREE RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAMS:

  • Eating Disorders: Treating 8-16-year-olds who are struggling with a restrictive eating disorder, as well as their families. We will use Family-Based Treatment (FBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients find a path to recovery.

  • Behavioral Health: Treating 6-14-year-olds who are experiencing an acute behavioral health crisis. The program will serve youth living with a mood, thought, or trauma disorder. This program will integrate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients, and their families, in achieving their treatment goals.

  • Neurodevelopmental: Treating children, ages 6-14, who are diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, or anxiety and are experiencing significant challenges in their daily lives. We will use an integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Social Thinking Curriculum, and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to support clients, and their families, in achieving their treatment goals.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Rolling enrollment for 6 months to 1 year

  • Two-hour commitment per month

    • The Community Advisory Boards will be able to decide how to spend these hours. This may include meeting for discussion or spending that time individually for brainstorming or contemplation

  • Meeting time: First Wednesday of the month 6pm-8pm

  • Location: Virtual, with the possibility for in-person meetings in the near future

  • Be informed about Ryther’s policies, procedures, and programmatic changes

  • Actively participate, voice your opinions, and share your lived experiences with the group

  • It is preferred for members to facilitate meetings on a rotational basis

  • Emphasize a family-focused perspective and transparency to the community

  • Commit to supporting Ryther’s work of providing healing and hope through a trauma-informed, evidence-based, equitable lens to care

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Commitment to the Vision, Values, and Mission of Ryther’s organization

  • Involved within your community

  • Has a broad community-oriented perspective (versus a special interest)
