Juvenile Detention Mental Health Team

Ryther’s Juvenile Detention Mental Health Services team works within the King County Juvenile Detention Center in Seattle’s Central District neighborhood. This team provides direct services to detained youth and consultation and training to Detention staff. The Ryther Detention team collaborates with psychiatric and primary care providers within the Detention Health Center to coordinate care.

Juvenile Detention Services include:

  • Care Planning

  • Individual/Group Therapy

  • Suicide/homicide Risk Assessments

  • Crisis Support

  • Discharge Planning

  • Case Management

Juvenile Detention Staff Training includes:

​

  • Youth Development

  • Trauma-informed Care

  • Mental Health

​

In collaboration with the Juvenile Justice Assessment Team (JJAT), juvenile detention and court staff, inpatient facilities, and other systems involved with the client, Ryther staff will provide referrals and ensure needs are met, such as physical health, psychiatric treatment, psychological services, and more.

 

Ryther’s goal for the Juvenile Detention Program is to build new community relationships to meet clients’ mental health needs during detention and when transitioning back into the community.
